Does Twitter REALLY help your business?
In one of the forums I belong to in a business networking site someoone asked if there was really a point in having a Twitter account, basically the question was: Does Twitter REALLY help you build your business online?
The person who started the discussion said something like this:
“I have been on Twitter for several months, posting something every day, I follow (and I’m followed by) around 100 people, however, I haven’t seen anything happening, I think it has no value. I find it very hard to keep up with reading all those tweets and I assume that the same happens and people are not reading mine… is it worth keeping or should I cancel? ”
This was (sort of ) my response:
“I didn’t use to like it, I had an account for a few months and like you, even though I posted every once in a while, I canceled it because I didn’t see anything happening.
Then just to follow one of the gals from the TV show “The View” I opened a new one. This is how I’m using it now and now I like it:
1) Schedule your “promo posts” with http://www.futuretweets.com you can set it to submit automatically every week, day, month… you choose and once scheduled, you have free time for other business things. Make sure you make them look like information, not an ad so you comply with Twitter rules.
2) Install a “blog-to-twitter” plugin to your blog. That way everytime you add new content to your blog, your followers get their notification with a link to read your new blog post. Once again you are killing 2 birds with one stone.. (I hope PETA is not reading this or I’ll be in big trouble, LOL!)
3) Install a Twitter gadget to your desktop (this one works well: http://home-4-wealth.com/?p=707) so you get read and respond to tweets in real time, making it easier to actually interact with other people.
Using this “system” my team is getting signups, I’m getting a lot of new blog readers, I’m generating more interest in both my products and business opportunity, you just need to “tweak” how you’re using it.
