Listen and Watch, it will make your job easier.
I’m not really a shy person, but I find it very difficult to approach someone and talk about my business. However, I have been trying to find ways to make it easier for me to tell others about my products and business opportunity.
Here are some tips that I’m following:
*Listen - Make sure you listen closely to what people are saying. People like to tell others about the problems they’re having, that makes them feel important. If you listen closely, you will find clues on to let them know that your products or opportunity can help them solve those problems.
Last week I was talking to my downstairs neighbor and she knows about my business, (I gave them a product catalog when I started the business but they have never ordered or requested more information) , but she is telling me about how dry her husband’s skin is because of the medical treatments and medicines he’s in.
She tells me that they haven’t found a lotion that will help moisturize his skin. (Aha moment for me!) So I tell her about how if he drinks at least 4oz of aloe gel every day and use the aloe propolis cream he will see an improvement on his skin in a matter of days. She looks at me and tells me: “Oh, yeah those are some of your aloe products, right?” I gave her a couple of samples of the aloe propolis cream and told her to let me know how they worked for him. Now all I need to do is to follow up in a couple of days, to see how it’s working and to suggest using the Aloe gel daily.
*Watch – I’ve developed a nice friendship with one of the mom’s at my son’s school and about a month (or two) ago, her daughter was involved in an accident in school where she got a lacerated eyebrow, she had stitches, and now that the stitches were cut off, a small, but noticeable scar was left and she’s not growing hair in the place of the wound.
I just realized today when I looked at her daughter this morning and she (mom) pointed out to me that the scar didnt’ seem to be fading away. I told her I’m going to give you something for it when I come to pick my son up in the afternoon. I have a tub of Aloe Gelly that I’m going to give her, because I used Aloe Gelly on some bald spots that my dog had and in a couple of days she was growing new hair in the bald spots, and I’ve used Aloe Gelly on an old scar I had on my hand and it vanished it almost completely.
It is very likely that the people you talk to everyday, are facing some issues that your products, service or opportunity can help them to resolve; but a lot of times, we are too busy talking and we don’t pay attention to what people are saying, what they need.
If one of the reasons you got started in business was to help others, the only way you can help is by listening closely. Once you know what they need, you’ll be able to offer what you have that may help. Think about it.
