Over 13.7 million americans working from home
WOW!!!
It is a fact, working from home is attractive and if you ask anyone on the street if they would like to be able to work from home, you will get more “Yes” than “No” for an answer.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that at last count, 13.7 million Americans were telecommuting. Only one in four had a formal agreement in place with their employers. The vast majority simply arrange with a supervisor to spend a day or two a week out of the office.
That obviously don’t include home based business owners, consultants, direct sellers, network marketers, internet marketers, etc…
The most popular (and better paying) work at home jobs are:
- Sales Representatives – Average Stay at home salary of $68,270
- Financial Analysts – Average Stay at home salary $70,400
- Personal Financial Advisors – Average Stay-Home Salary: $67,660
- Web Designers – Average Stay-Home Salary: $47,000 to $71,500
- Software Developers – Average Stay-Home Salary: $83,130
- Accountant – Average Stay-Home Salary: $57,060
- Marketing Manager – Average Stay-Home Salary: $104,400
Whether you choose to make an arrangement with your boss to telecommute or choose to start your own business from home you must remember a few key points:
- Working from home is not a substitution for child care, when you need to get work done, phone calls made, orders fulfilled, you will need help with your kids, so try to arrange for a few hours of solid work. Ask a family member or another work at home parent to watch the kids for a few hours, and then you return the favor.
- Working from home can get isolating. There are NO water cooler discussions, no surprise birthday parties at lunch time, no secret friend gift exchanges… you are on your own.
- It requires discipline and focus. If you are easily distracted or just a bit lazy, you will have a hard time working from home. One day you will feel sick , the other day someone will ask you to run an errand for them, next day you will not feel like working, then you will HAVE to clean the bathroom instead of finishing a report… and when you realize you have done nothing and your business, reputation and pocket will suffer.
No one said working from home was easy, but after all that has been said… working from home is a blessing!
