Prejudging is NOT a good business practice!
OK, I admit it, I have been guilty of pre-judging people when trying to find new customers but mostly when trying to find new members for my team. I have to take full control of the issue and not fall prey of my: “Oh no, this person is so and has this and wouldn’t be interested” thoughts.
We usually think about unemployed people or stay at home moms, or existing customers when we are searching for prospects to join our team, and we usually (OK, OK, I usually) think that certain people are not going to be interested, but have you considered…?
1- People that are successful, but are not happy with what they do.
2- People who love what they do, but that they want to get more out of life.
3- People worried about downsizing and layoffs.
4- People who make a lot of money but don’t have the time to enjoy it.
5- Natural entrepreneurs who are always searching for new ventures.
6- People who need money to retire or pay off loans.
7- People who want to pay off credit card debt.
8- People who dream about changing careers.
9- People with 2 or more jobs who are exhausted and want to quit one of the jobs.
10- People wanting an additional income so their spouse doesn’t have to work.
11- People who want to improve their lifestyle.
We never know who needs what we have to offer, and who gave us the right to prevent them to find a solution to their needs?
Let them make the decision, let them know what you have, if it’s a fit for them wonderful, they will let you know; if it’s not a match, no problem, now that they know what you have to offer, they can send you a referral if they meet someone who needs it.
