The importance of blogging.
I’ve heard many people ask, if they should have a website, a blog or both and why is it important…
Let’s start by saying that blogging is VERY important. The primary reason why you might consider to start blogging is because it is YOUR forum, your place to speak your mind and let other people know who you are, what you do… how you do it
and more importantly, why they should be doing business with you and not your competitor.
If you are in a direct selling, mlm or network marketing business, it is key that you start your own blog, because there are a lot of other people online doing exactly what you’re doing, selling exactly the same products you’re selling, and trying to recruit the same people for their team. You want to give your reader a reason to choose YOU.
Another thing is that when we join a business opportunity, most of the times, we receive a replicated website when we sign up, and that is great for taking and processing orders, but not to convert a lead to a customer. People like to talk to people, when you are shopping for a car, you may come to the Internet and look at different cars and read about them but then you will go to a dealer and talk to a real person, you will ask others who own the car you’re interested in buying what their experience has been, etc.
Same applies to online business, people would gravitate towards those Internet marketers that they see “active”, that they can see their “expertise”, those that they feel they “know” and that is what your blog is going to do for you.
Now, all you have to do is choose where you want to host your blog, open a free account and start “talking”.
There are several blog services… I have used Blogger (a.k.a Blogspot) and WordPress, I like WordPress better because it has more features, prettier templates and more features or “widgets”.
After you set up your account and blog, you need to find topics to write about.
I am a subscriber of several newsletters and printed magazines targeting the specific niche of my businesses. Every month, as I read them I get ideas of what to talk about, you will find 1 or 2 articles that caught your attention and all that you need to do is “talk” about them.
Don’t copy and paste! That is plagiarism.
Read the article and write your own as if you were telling about it to your friend over coffee. In other words, write an article about THE article you read.
Other sources to find topics are: Yahoo News, Group posts, RSS feeds you are subscribed to, ezines or e-newsletters, your local paper, you own experience, posts in networking groups or message boards… I’m sure you’ll find plenty of topic sources.
So, go ahead, open your account and start blogging today.
