Using technology to ease your home based business workload.
A few days ago I was asked by a friend and business buddy how did I find time to post on my blogs, post ads, write articles, process orders, etc. She told me that she didn’t have the time and that it was making her business suffer.
She has a demanding day job and I don’t, but I have 2 kids in school and their extra-curricular activities (and boy! that is a day job on its own!) and she doesn’t, so the only thing that I could think of was that she was not scheduling her time on paper.
See, something magical happens when you write things down, as you start to fill your calendar or planner with your “have to do’s” then little time slots (you didn’t know you had) start to pop in front of your eyes for your “to-do’s.
Once you have identified that “hidden time” you need to use it wisely, that is where “automation and technology” come in.
* Set up a blog, and when you have time available write 2 blog posts or 3! Don’t publish them all at once, schedule them for later dates.
* Synchronize your blog with Twitter. Install a plugin on your blog that “tweets” whenever you publish a new blog post (yup, those that you scheduled before).
* Use an application such as http://www.FutureTweets.com to schedule regular (daily, weekly or monthly) posts on Twitter.
* Blackberrys and SmartPhones keep you connected wherever you are at all times. You can post to Twitter from you phone, browse the Internet, check your emails, scan your social networking sites, and more importantly synchronize your calendar so you know what you need to do and when you need to do it even if you are out running errands.
* When you’re tired and want to go online just to chill out (I do it all the time), place a few ads, blast your ad on some safelists or comment on some social networking sites, blogs or forums before start your “leisure browsing”.
